New bookstore, candy shop, meeting space coming to Donelson Ave. property
Two months ago, we reported that the storefront at 1204 Donelson Avenue was intended to become a vape shop, but thanks to the due diligence of neighbors, the building owner, the board and our community, it looks like we are getting some new tenants! And the best part is…. they are local! Check out information about the new businesses coming to neighborhood below:
Duckbill Bookshop: Madison, a fellow villager, shared at the community meeting that she is opening Duckbill Bookshop soon in the heart of Old Hickory Village! Her goal is to create a warm, welcoming space where neighbors of all ages can discover and explore everything from timeless classics to the newest bestsellers and local authors as well as connect through community events and casual hangs. As she prepares to open, please share your input on what kinds of books, events, and experiences would make Duckbill Bookshop a true gathering place for Old Hickory.
Please take a few minutes to fill out our community survey and help us shape the bookshop into a neighborhood favorite.
Connect with us at www.duckbillbookshop.com or on Instagram for bookshop updates and news. We can't wait to open our doors to this amazing community in the coming months.
Candy and Gift Shop: Rachel, another fellow villager, announced that she will also be occupying a space on Donelson Ave and has plans to open candy and gift shop. Her goal is to be a local spot for specialty candy, unique gifts, and art. Additional details are forthcoming.
Village Hangout: Lastly, a final neighbor has set their sights on opening a Village hangout space equipped with warm drinks and comfy seating to serve as a place to gather, connect and enjoy each others company. More information about their space is also forthcoming.
Please help us congratulate our neighbors on their endeavors and be sure to frequent them when they open!
