June 2025: New Businesses & Developments

Councilman Jeff Eslick announced plans to revitalize the Thomas Overton Cemetery at 1207 Donelson Avenue. Firm timelines and details are still being established, but Eslick plans to remove and trim trees, replace portions of the fence, repair the bottom of the steps, restore walls around the graves, and repair headstones.

He has also been in contact with the developer of 2905 Lawrence Ct in Lakewood, just off of Pitts Avenue by the Dollar General. The development has not seen any progress or maintenance in quite some time. Eslick stated he will remain in contact with Metro Codes to prevent the future “start/stop” of work on the property.

We have also recently learned that the property behind Chopper’s at 1202 Donelson Avenue is currently slated to become a vape shop.

Additionally, in case you missed our new business updates last month: Old Hickory Pizza & Pub is now open, Nash Dogs has secured a brick and mortar location, and Hamby’s now serves ice cream.
