C.A.R.E for Nashville speaks to The Village
CARE for Nashville (Citizens Against Racetrack Expansion) is a coalition of local residents and small business owners who oppose a proposed redevelopment of the Nashville Speedway + Fairgrounds into a full‑blown NASCAR superspeedway.
At stake is far more than noisy engines and cheering crowds. CARE argues the project would bring loud disruption, environmental concerns, and use taxpayer money for an expansion that primarily benefits outside interests rather than everyday Nashvillians. Noise pollution, traffic congestion, and neighborhood quality of life are central anxieties among those opposed.
One guest noted, “if this can happen in our neighborhood without any input from neighbors, it could happen any where in the city.”
Their website outlines information about the proposal, and ways for neighbors to take action. They provide updates and call for people to join via email or social media, ensuring citizens have a direct voice in what could become a defining issue for Nashville’s civic future.
CARE challenges local leaders to prioritize pressing issues that affect all residents, rather than divert public resources to what they see as a spectacle for tourists. To them, the question isn’t just about a racetrack—it’s about what kind of city Nashville wants to be: one that listens to its communities, safeguards its neighborhoods, and invests in shared well‑being.
Visit carefornashville.org for talking points, meeting times, and how to get involved. Whether you’ve lived here for a year or a lifetime, this is your city—and your voice matters.
