What to do about feral cats
Let’s talk about community cats.
Whether you feed them regularly or hate that they keep ruining your plant beds, there’s no denying community cats are residents of each Old Hickory neighborhood.
Unlike vape shops overtaking our neighborhoods, we do have a way to combat the cats from taking over our streets. The answer: TNR (Trap. Neuter. Release.)
In partnership with Pet Community Center, residents of Davidson County can request traps for community cats. Once the traps are set and kitties are caught, you bring the cat or cats to Pet Community Center where each cat will be seen by a vet, given vaccines, spayed/neutered, and ear tipped to know that it has been fixed.
Two neighborhood board members recently did this in Rayon City, capturing 10 cats and three kittens, and found that it was easiest when you had a team of neighbors assisting each other with setting traps and transporting the cats.
If there is enough interest, Pet Community Center is willing to assist with a Old Hickory wide TNR.
