Welcome to the first 2024 edition of the Old Hickory Village Newsletter. We’re so glad you’re here! We have revamped the newsletter a bit, so please take a look at a few updates from the February community meeting, things to note, and a few upcoming events this spring. For any questions about any of the following, please reach out to The Neighborhood Association via email.

OHV Community Center

The board contacted our Community Center project manager, AC Pullig-Gomez, about an update. Please note that we will notify the community about demolition timelines when we receive them. Please see the below updates from AC:

They concluded the bid review last week.
Procurement will be selecting a contractor in the coming weeks.
They will be ready to begin the demo and construction as soon as they finalize their selection.
The Metro Arts Commission is working with Artist Gordon Heuther to create a beautiful art display in the new community center.

New Business Update:

Old Hickory Social

During our Feb. 13 meeting, Rachel Thomas, owner of the new Old Hickory Social (Old Rite Aid Building), came to chat about her new business coming to Old Hickory. Opening next month, Thomas mentioned her excitement about coming to Old Hickory and how her husband grew up in The Village!

Rayon City Traffic Calming Measures

A mailer with information about the Scenic View Rd traffic calming meeting has been sent and will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. Please note that these meetings are crucial in figuring out the best plan of attack for these situations, so please log on if you live on this road. If your street could benefit from traffic calming measures, the next application period is in March. Please visit Nashville's Neighborhood Street Traffic Calming Program website to learn more about how this process works.

Potholes Galore!

Check out our blog on how to report potholes and file a claim to help repair your car if one has already done some damage to your car!

March Community Meeting - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12 at Old Hickory Library (1010 Jones St.) | Brittany Irby, Director of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement for the Office of Mayor Freddie O’Connell, will join us to talk about Mayor O’Connells’ work in Nashville and Old Hickory.

Old Hickory Village Farmers Market - 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2|Get ready to kick off our Farmers Market season. Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss it.

Community Clean Up - TBD on Saturday, April 13 | Information about volunteering to come!

Spring Cleaning

Bulk Item Collection:

Davidson County Sheriff’s Office provides bulk item removal for neighbors across county. To schedule a bulk item pick-up, please contact: 615-880-3897. Their office hours are Monday – Friday 6 a.m – 2:30 p.m. For more information, please visit Davidson County Sheriff’s Office website.

Brush Item Collection:

Brush collection is provided to residential single-family homes in Metro Nashville's Urban and General Services Districts. Residents have their brush and yard waste collected four times a year on a rotation schedule along 12 routes.

Please note NDOT is running at a 3 week delay on the regular brush collection schedule. Crews are in area 12.
